Georgian 30 hour long case clock in a fine Oak case with mahogany cross banding, and bog oak and holly inlay . Made by Llanidloes maker Owen Davis c 1820 working out of Long Bridge Street. The dial has the unusual fake 8 day feature, a ploy used by the old clock makers to make the clock look like a more expensive 8 day clock! The clock is in good working order. The case has had some loss of the odd bit of veneer which has been restored. The clock would have once had bracket feet but now has a removeable oak plinth, very old but I don't think original. This plith can be removed as the case just stands on top of it, which reduces the clocks height by about 3 inches. The case is in good condition with an excellent patina.
13 inch square dial, case 7 foot 2 inches high.
