This fine pair cased silver watch has a genuine verge movement numbered 3101 made around 1700 by the great Thomas Tompion, small for this period. The later inner and outer case are hallmarked for London 1791 maker I.T . The later dial probably dating from around the date of the case has a small chip near 2 o'clock not noticable when the bezel is closed. The hands are fine beetle and poker design made I think of brass. The movement is numbered on the back plate also under the cock and the front plate. The watch even after over 300 years still works well. The ringed balance wheel is typical of Tompion movements of this time, the movement is listed in the Jeremy Evans book Thomas Tompion at the Three crowns.
Diameter 53mms. Dial diameter 39.5 mms.
